A: Because it is the cheapest version of the iconic sports car, the Porsche 911.

Q: What are the differences between a Porsche Carrera and a Porsche Boxster?

A: A Porsche Carrera has a rear-end engine and a "jump seat" in the back. The Boxster is a 2-seater with a mid-engine. The Carrera you must learn how to control the steering around corners - it is not a "natural" feeling. Easy to learn, take it out on a track with a certified PCA instructor and have fun. The Boxster handles beautifully with a 49%-51% differential. Meanwhile, the Carrera (which we refer to as a 911) comes in different models. A convertible we call Cabriolet. A roof sliding back on new Targa models (old ones, we use to take off an put in the trunk), with or without sunroofs. Boxsters are strictly convertibles. Though they have made a "sister" car - sort of, and it is coupe named Cayman. Feel free to visit www.porsche.com to see the models and when you get one - join Porsche Club of America at www.pca.org and by all means - it's not just the cars - it's the people!

Q: How many miles per gallon does a 1980 Porsche Carrera get?

A: The 911SC can be fairly economical on gas, depending on your driving habits and that the car is in good running order. Overall, you could probably expect to average in the low 20s (22-25mpg) for most driving conditions. You may see 30mpg on a long highway trip, or just under 20mpg with alot of city/traffic driving. If attending a track day, milage will be closer to 8-10mpg. Following that, if you drive in the above conditions extremely aggressive, you'll see a little less (though the above numbers would likely include some spirited driving as you would expect to do in a Porsche). Likewise, engine problems or issues with the CIS injection will also have a negative effect on fuel economy.

Q: How do you find out the Value of a Porsche 993 Carrera 2006 model?
It has a V-8 engine, Auto transmission with the ability to change to manual (?), Red Exterior in excellent condition, Gray interior and gray convertible top. 60,000 miles, larger disc brakes, leather seats, cruise, CD, radio, power windows and locks. I think that's it. It is a friend's who want to try and sell it but is not sure the book value.

A: go to edmunds.com or kbb.com

Q: My Alarm and horn keeps going off for no reason? Porsche Carrera 2000?
Sometimes when I go over speedbumps my horn goes off? I have a 2000 Porsche Carrera.

A: You have to go to the dealership who installed it. It is probably set to very sensitive and that can be easily set for a less sensitive position. Sometimes the alarm can make it so the car wont work at all if there is a automatic cutoff switch and it is too sensitive.

How much does Porsches in general cost to maintain per year?

A: Too expensive!

Q: What is the correct tire pressure for Porsche Carrera 4S?
The car is only for normal driving, not for high speed driving, and the car is fitted with original tires and rim only.

A: You neglect certain details... first, there are three very different version of the Carrera 4S. The 993, 996, and 997 (current). Second, there are a number of different factory rim options for each of these. The factory recommendation for the 996 is 36 psi in the front, and 44 psi in the rear. It is likely very similar for the 997. However, the factory recommendation here is way off what is usable! The 36 psi in the front is at least in the right range, but the 44 rear is way too much for the back. If you stay with the factory recommendation in front, you'll find something about 2 pounds heavier in the back to be the right match for the rear biased weight distribution. Aggressive driving will tend to put more heat (and thus pressure) into the tires, meaning you might be able to run a pound or two lighter (and definitely at least that if you are tracking the car). Conversely, if you are very conservative, you might consider 37 in the front, 39 in the back. Lastly, you will get some difference depending on the exact tires you have fitted and their sizes (there were a number of different OEM tires for each of the different 4S's produced)... but ultimately, all of these cars and tires will be within a couple pounds of each other, so 36F-38R would likely be a good starting point. PS - and just to comment on what has been said earlier... the PSI listed on the tire is THE MAXIMUM pressure, not the recommended pressure.

Q: What are some things I need to know about purchasing a 2003 or 2004 Porsche Carrera?
Not worried about depreciation. Servicing and Major repair cost? I know a Porsche isnt crazy money to fix like a Ferrari, but just curious.

A: Porsche's can be serviced anywhere, but I would take it to a Porsche dealer to avoid any problems. Porsche's are generally reliable cars. And more fuel efficient than Ferrari's. They are just as expensive to fix as Mercedes, BMW, and Audi.
