Q: why did they install the ignition key on the left side in Porsche Cayenne ?
I bought lately Porsche Cayenne and this is the first time so since i bought it i was wondering why the ignition key is on the left side of the steering wheel?
I searched a lot in net and found nothing so i hope that i can find the answer here
thanks
A: its porsche tradition. almost all porsches have had it like that. it has to do with speed of operation. start the car with your left hand and put it in gear with your right. so the time it takes to make the car ready to go is cut in half...i know it sounds lame like i made it up but its true! just one more way to try to distinguish it from the Volkswagen Touareg perhaps........
found this on one website under the heading for carrera gt -- source below
In typical Porsche fashion, the ignition is to the left of the steering wheel. This placement dates back to the early days of Le Mans racing when drivers were required to make a running start, hop into their cars, start them and begin the race. The placement of the ignition enabled the driver to start the car with his left hand and put it in gear with his right.
Q: Which model(year) of the Porsche Cayenne is the best and where to buy?
I am looking to buy a used Porsche Cayenne. Which year is the safest, gets the best mileage, most reliable, etc?
A: Your average Cayenne goes from $45k all the way up to $100k+ depending on how crazy you want to go with it. The baseline model is under 300hp at 290hp. 0-60 in 7.5 seconds and top speed of 141mph.
However, the Cayenne Turbo S which is the top of the line model is 550hp model that does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds at 174mph top speed, big difference. It ranges at around $124,000. They are..... fast. Especially for an SUV.
Technically the newest models include airbags in each seat for passengers, as well as full size airbags up front and a side impact system. Quite safe. Keep in mind too that because it is a performance vehicle, even though an SUV, they are armed with VERY impressive brake setups, stopping is amazing in them. And the standard safety features for them are beefed up simply to compensate for the performance that they offer. What goes fast must stop fast. They don't compromise on the models for safety, even on the base model, period.
You are going to have less maintenance and less expense with the baseline model. Parts for the turbo system, electronics, etc are going to be quite costly on the Turbo S. So if you aren't wanting to go beat the pants off of the neighborhood sportcars in a Turbo S model then the baseline is a nice luxurious Porsche to own in terms of an SUV if you are willing to compromise for the crazy performance that the other models own. There are 7 different versions of the Cayenne total. From the Cayenne, to the Cayenne S, GTS, Turbo S, etc....
Now, where the baseline model is $45k i'm sure you are wondering what they will cost used. I took the liberty of doing a KBB for you on a 2004 Cayenne base model with 60,000 miles in an assumed "Good condition", the total private party value is $32,010.
On a Cayenne S Turbo (2006) with an assumed 60,000 miles in good condition, $41,550. I will link a few Cayenne links for you below.
Q: What are your opinions on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo?
I'm thinking about going for an SUV because I haven't been able to make-up my mind on a car, & I've always wanted a Cayenne Turbo-Turbo S, BMW X5, or Hummer H2 if I decided to get an SUV I've always loved those three.
A: The Hummer's gas tank will eat through your wallet regardless of your income. The Cayenne Turbo S is the best performing car of the three, but is terrible in snowy or off-road conditions due to it's inability to be fitted with off-road tires. BMW X5 is probably one of the most well balanced SUVs available along with the Mercedes GL class.
Q: how do I program my porsche cayenne sport center console with my garage beepers?
i have three of those buttons where i can program the beeper so i dont have to take it out everytime i get home, but i dont know how to mAKE IT WORK! i misplaced the manual thingy, and i dont feel like going to the dealer to work it out!! HELP!
A: lol you MUST TAKE IT TO THEM OR IT WILL NEVER WORK. same thing happened to my old shelby i took it to the dealer and the had to program it
Q: Has anyone seen the new 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo?
I just saw the new 09 model yesterday up close at a local dealership, and it is so beautiful! Huge tires, huge wheels, new design, new interior. Does anyone know how much HP the 09 model has? Any other specs in particular?
A: my great aunt has one but its the S series, its the silver one and the S series has a twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 that pumps out about 500 hp and 515 lbs. of torque. i can also send you some pictures of it too.
email me for pictures or any other questions.
Thanks,

Q: why do people regards SUV like BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne are for soccer's star wife or celebrities wife?
cant men drive this cars too? why SUV have to be for wife?
A: Why do you care what other people think? I used to, then I bought a 328i.
Now I wish I still had my Volvo S70...
Drive what you want b/c you like it... Not because you want others to think about you differently.
I fell into that trap...
Q: How much would it cost to replace the passengers side side-view mirror on a 2009 Porsche Cayenne SUV?
A: Enough...
You should talk to either a Porsche dealer, or a shop that deals with exotic repairs, but that could easily be some piece of $500 nonsense or worse.
Q: A Porsche Cayenne on a video game?
I really like the Porsche Cayenne, and I was woundering if there was a video game on PS3 that has the car. A game where you can drive around, and race and what not.
A: get a good job and buy one
Q: can someone give me a sedan or coupe that is equal performance wise with the porsche cayenne?
...
my friend told me he would never take an suv over a sedan or coupe ever so i just want to prove him wrong
porsche cayenne turbo s btw
A: A sedan or coupe that is the equal? That is hard! Though probably quite easy if you want to find a sedan or coupe that is better than the Cayenne, but the exact equal?
The Cayenne is pretty amazing performance wise when you consider it's an SUV... but it is an SUV and that means it is massively large and heavy. If you ever go out to a race track and observe the cars, you will quickly realize that two things that are not characteristcs of a performance vehicle are large and heavy.
So, some sedan's and coupes that are superior in performance to a Cayenne? Porsche Boxster, Cayman, Carrera, and all of their variants; older Porsches like the 911, 914-5. 951, 968, 944S2, 930, 964, 965, 993, and most of the variants of those cars. BWM M series cars... actually, you could just say most current BMW coupes and sedans as well as most Mercedes coupes and sedans... oh, Lexus too! Pretty much anything offered by Lotus in the last 20 years... oh, the Mazda Miata, the Mazda 3, the Mazda 6... etc etc. Subaru STI... and so on and so on and so on. Corvette, Mustang, Soltice, etc etc.
The Cayenne is amaizng... has lots of power, and one the rare occassions I've seen one at an autocross or as a pace vehcile at a race, I am often amazed at how aggressive they can be in the corners and that they don't tip over! But in terms of performance application, there is no getting around the fact that they're center of balance is massively higher than a coupe or sedan, and they weigh about twice as much (meaning a car with half the power will have the same power to weight).
Now, if by "performance," you mean ability to take lots of passengers and tow a boat, well, then maybe you have a good argument.
Q: Does anyone know if a tall guy (6ft 5in) can ride comfortably in a Porsche Cayenne WITHOUT a sunroof?
Im a pretty tall guy and know that cars with sunroofs lower the roof line quite a bit, but was wondering if a tall guy would be comfortable driving a cayenne. i would just test drive one, but the only one ive found without a sunroof is quite a far way away.
A: Your best bet is to go sit in one that way and see what you think. Take it for a test drive. The factors are not necessarily how much your height is but the biggest factor will be your torso in comparison to your legs.
For instance... i'm 5'10", i'm not horribly tall. I have a friend who is 6' tall who fits more comfortably in my porsche than I do, my head hits the top if I don't adjust my seat back and way up towards the wheel. I've had to adjust the seats, etc to get to where I can feel "Comfortable" in mine. A lot of people have very different lengths on their torso in comparison to legs, so you could have 2 people who are the same height at 6' 5" and one may fit great, the other may have a horrible time fitting.
I would highly suggest trying one at a dealer, sitting in it, seeing how it feels and try driving it around. Most dealers are pretty cool about it if they know you're in the market for one and are seriously considering it. While your height is a challenge for some cars, it doesn't make it impossible ;) good luck my friend!
Q: How often does the Cayenne Hybrid Porsche need a new battery?
I need some research on this hybrid car for my class.
Please help =]
A: Unknown, as Porsche still only lists the Cayenne Hybrid S as a concept vehicle. Auto magazines put it as maybe a 2010 model, but unknown as this hasn't been the first pushback on a release date...
http://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutporsche/porscheandenvironment/hybrid/
The various hybrid vehicles currently available all have at minimum an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty on the hybrid battery. (Those that meet AT-PZEV emissions in a California-emissions state are warrantied out to 10 years/150,000 miles.) Hybrid battery replacements are still very rare, in or out of warranty. I cannot even give you an estimate for the Toyota Prius, which has been out in the US for almost 9 years now, as not enough hybrid batteries have had problems in that time (and many are over 200,000+ miles now).
I'd expect the standard 12v accessory battery to last about as long as found in any other vehicle. Maybe around 5 years?
Q: What are your view's on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo?
Thinking of buying one if I go for an SUV.
A: The base models (Cayenne and Cayenne S) are quite unremarkable. Conversely, the Cayenne Turbo is a surprisingly powerful sports car in an SUV's clothing. While it is fast, it's not worth the asking price. I don't think anything of that height, ground clearance and center of gravity should be that fast. It inspires reckless driving practices and requires an experienced driver to handle that kind of vehicle. You couldn't weave through traffic due to its size nor could you take sharp corners quite as deftly as other true sports cars. I'm sure it has adequate stability control but I've never been interested in testing powerful SUVs when it comes to rollover.
Regarding its aesthetic features, they really dropped the ball. It looks too much like the Touareg and is almost indistinguishable from the low-end Cayennes. A large part of the appeal of this car is the name and image. If it looks no different from its $40,000 counterpart, why spend so much? Go for a Mercedes AMG and get faster acceleration, more luxury, more customizability, and a much smoother ride. Plus, AMGs look different. They have a lower ground clearance than the regular trims, different grilles, sleeker lines, bigger wheels, more badges, and the interior color schemes are beautiful.
There is no shortage of alternatives if you just want a fast car. I'd pass on the Cayenne Turbo.
Q: Is the shape of the boot on a VW Touareg the same as the Porsche Cayenne (for purpose of boot liner)?
I was wondering for the purposes of a plastic boot liner and whether it would fit both vehicles
A: yes it is
Q: how is the porsche cayenne i wanted to get it for my sons first car. Is it a good car?
A: Cayenne is a good car maybe for you and your family, but for a kid is like driving his "mom“s car"
Buy to him a japanese coupe, let em fel like a young boy, not like a mom
Regards
Q: New or used porsche cayenne turbo?
ive looked at an 08 cayenne turbo and i love it, but i can get one of the earlier ones (04-06) for less than half the money, and i like the drive too.is the look considered to be that different between the original and facelifted model?will anyone really notice?
A: I have never bought a used car. Porsche is a luxury item and so you shouldn't be thinking of pinching pennies. So I'd go new myself.
If the question will people realize it is a older model year then yes of course it is noticeable.
If you are talking strictly economics then of course buying used is the best option but then if you are talking economics then buying a domestic car is even better.
